The development of StationGuard--a patent pending invention--began with my frustration of having to replace pumps again and again. Inorganic objects such as golf balls, toys, clothing, diapers, and even rocks, often enter lift stations and will damage pumps, which are difficult to reach and expensive to repair.
I have worked in the waste water field for over 20 years, beginning as an operator. From the onset I have found this business very fascinating, and I started to look for new solutions when problems arose. Since 1989 I have visited and operated hundreds of lift stations. I have found that there weren't any solutions to keep inorganic materials from entering small stations. Other than expensive bar screen systems that are designed for large stations there was nothing on the market that offered an inexpensive and convenient in-station solution. The need for something to protect these pumps drove me to come up with my own solution, and now I am ready to share it with you.
StationGuard attaches directly onto each waste stream pipe, either inside the lift station or at the plant. It could even be used in a manhole situation, and fits around PVC, SDR, DI, IP, AC, CP pipes. It can also be wall-mounted.
StationGuard comes in two sizes: for 4" - 8" pipes, and for 10" - 20" pipes. It is light-weight, and made from non-conductive materials. (Special sizes are available.) It can be easily adjusted in the field to screen at varying widths: 1/2" and 1", depending on the size and nature of objects you are trying to catch.
Once StationGuard is installed the operator can maintain the removable bar screen from atop the lift station or waste treatment plant. StationGuard's patent pending mounting cradle allows for quick and easy removal and reinstallation. Within minutes it can begin protecting your pumps in a way not offered before.
